Ameloblastoma
- Benign epithelial lesion with aggressive imaging appearance.
- Represents approximately 1% of jaw lesions, most often affecting the mandible.
- Commonly seen in young adults.
- Patients present with slow-growing painless mass.
- Key Diagnostic Features: Expansive, unilocular or multilocular lesion with thin rim of bony cortex which may be interrupted. May be associated with unerupted 3rd molars. Solid portions enhance, which can help differentiate from odotongenic cysts.
- DDx: Odontogenic keratocyst, dentigerous cyst, traumatic bone cyst. The lack of tumor bone deposition and the lack of invasion of adjacent fat or muscle suggest against squamous cell carcinoma, osteogenic or chondrogenic sarcoma.
- Treatment: Surgical resection
